Dudamel also conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks for the first time with a program that includes the composer’s Fifth Symphony, Nutcracker selections, and 1812 Overture (July 24 & 25, 2015).

On July 28, violinist Gil Shaham joins Dudamel for an all-Mendelssohn program, comprising the German composer’s Violin Concerto and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Dudamel rounds out his Hollywood Bowl concerts of the summer season with an evening devoted to the music of Mozart on July 30, comprising selected arias performed by bass-baritone Gerald Finley and soprano Miah Persson, as well as the Piano Concerto No. 21 with Alice Sara Ott.

Gustavo Dudamel conducts Beethoven Cycle with Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela


For five consecutive evenings, Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts a complete cycle of Beethoven's symphonies with the Símon Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, July 8 to 12 at the Teatro Mayor in Bogotá, Colombia.

Prior to the Beethoven cycle, on July 6, 2015, Gustavo and the Bolívars join forces with the Orchestra of Bogota Philharmonic to perform Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with pianist Sergio Tiempo. On July 8, the Music Director leads the Bolívars in performances of the composer's First and Second Symphonies, in addition to Romance No. 1 and 2 with violinist Simone Porter. Beethoven's Symphonies No. 3 & 4 follow on July 9, with the Fifth and Sixth Symphonies on July 10, and the Seventh and Eighth Symphonies on July 11. The Beethoven cycle culminates on July 12 with the composer's Ninth Symphony, "Choral," featuring soprano Mariana Ortiz, mezzo-soprano Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa, tenor César Augusto Gutiérrez, and baritone Günter Haumer.

LA Phil Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy continues with The Marriage of Figaro


On May 17, 19, 23, and 25, Gustavo Dudamel leads the LA Phil in the second installment of the Mozart/Da Ponte Trilogy with The Marriage of Figaro. Staged by director Christopher Alden, the production features a stellar international cast, sets by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean-Nouvel, and costumes by couturier Azzedine Alaïa.
