Mozart & Pärt with LA Phil
Throughout May, Music and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel explores the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Arvo Pärt with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Gustavo and the LA Phil take the stage May 19-22 for Pärt's Miserere and Mozart's Requiem with solo performances by soprano Lucy Crowe, mezzo-soprano Roxana Constantinescu, tenor Paul Appleby and bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni alongside the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Latvian Radio Choir.
On May 26 & 27, Gustavo conducts the LA Phil in Pärt's Cantus in Memoriam of Benjamin Britten and Symphony No. 4, "Los Angeles" plus – with pianist Inon Barnatan – Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17. The performance features video and sound installation by Bill Viola.
Then on May 28 & 29, Gustavo takes the podium to lead the LA Phil in the world premiere of Pärt's Greater Antiphons, a commission by the orchestra. Also on the program are Mozart's Symphonies Nos. 25 & 40.
